Greenworks PRO 60V Snow Shovel Review: 2024

The Greenworks PRO 60V 12″ Brushless Snow Shovel is the perfect tool for clearing light snow from small to medium driveways and walkways.

For most homeowners in snow-heavy areas, this is going to be the perfect fit for you.

To be honest, if you live in Antarctica, this may not be the best tool. That’s where you’ll want a snow blower (like this snow blower from Greenworks).

But with its cordless design, this snow shovel is easy to use and can be easily moved from the front driveway to the back porch.

Power on the Greenworks Snow Shovel

The Greenworks PRO 60V 12″ Brushless Snow Shovel can clear a path that is 12 inches wide and six inches deep. The shovel cuts through the snow like a hot knife through butter, making quick work of some deep snow.

The powerful 60V battery provides plenty of power to move even the heaviest snow, and the brushless motor ensures long-term durability (hand this puppy off to your grandkids, I’m sure they would love seeing in the will).

Great image showing how snow shovels work (more like throwers).

Greenworks is known for being a super powerful tool maker. They have insanely strong blowers and even some crazy nice mowers.

This is the only snow shovel I’ve used that felt like it knew what its job was.

Another sweet Greenworks 60V tools

Efficiency, baby! This is extremely cost-effective and can save you a ton of money by letting you buy tool-only versions of equipment, which come without a battery.

Another benefit here is that it allows you to free up outlet space to charge other batteries or use for appliances.

Cost and value

The Greenworks PRO 60V 12″ Brushless Snow Shovel retails for around $330. This is a bit more expensive than some other snow shovels on the market, but it offers a number of benefits that make it worth the price.

I trust Greenworks products immensely, which is about enough for me to pull the trigger (literally).

Why we review lawn tools

The reason we started this website in the first place was because we had so much trouble trying to find reasonable, understandable, honest reviews for lawn equipment. And it’s not cheap! After hours and hours of research, trying products and returning them, and messing up our yards – we started this site.

We get wild with testing.

As people who had to learn the hard way, we want you to know exactly what you are signing up for before you purchase a piece of equipment. That’s why we are committed to providing honest, easy-to-understand reviews that mean something.

Snow Blowers vs Snow Throwers

When it comes to clearing snow from your property, there are two main types of machines to choose from: the snow thrower and the snow blower. Both have their pros and cons, so how do you decide which is the right machine for you?

Snow Throwers

Snow throwers are typically smaller and lighter than snow blowers, making them easy to maneuver and store. They’re also typically less expensive.

EGO’s version of the snow shovel.

Snow throwers work by using a spinning auger to lift the snow and fling it out of the chute. When it flings, it basically just goes further away from where the snow thrower is. This is often just straight forward another 10-15 feet. Great for smaller areas, not as much for big areas.

Basically kicks the can down the road.

This is similar to the Snow Joe snow shovel we reviewed.

Snow Blowers

Snow blowers are larger and heavier than snow throwers, making them more difficult to maneuver but also giving them more power to clear large areas of snow.

Your classic snow blower.

Snow blowers work by using an auger to lift the snow and an impeller to blow it out of the chute, preferably into your neighbors yard.

Why Brushless Motors are the GOAT

Brushless motors are becoming more and more common in power tools, and for good reason. They offer a number of benefits over brushed motors:

  • Brushless motors are more efficient, meaning they use less energy to achieve the same results. This can lead to longer run times and less wear on the motor.
  • Brushless motors are more powerful, meaning they can provide more torque and faster speeds.
  • Brushless motors are more durable, meaning they last longer and require less maintenance.
