Step 1:  Clear the canvas

It may seem obvious, but raking and getting rid of rocks and matted grass is a must

Step 2:  Prepare equipment

Charge batteries, sharpen mower blades, and do maintenance

Step 3: Put down pre-emergent

Pre-emergent keeps the bad stuff out and good stuff in

Step 4: Water in the pre-emergent

A deep, long watering sets the pre-emergent in

Step 5: Be patient
