Ultimate Electric Pressure Washer Buying Guide: 2024

greenworks 3000 psi pressure washer

Electric pressure washers are becoming extremely popular – and we know exactly why. Compared to their gas-powered counterparts, electric pressure washers are cheaper, easier to maintain, and do the job well for most homeowners.

But with buying gas powered pressure washers, you know what you are going to get. The specifications make sense, you know how they work, they’re reliable, and are generally more powerful. So how do you figure out what to look for in an electric pressure washer?

Bottom Line: Today, I’ll break down exactly what I look for in an electric pressure washer and highlight some of my favorites that I have personally used and reviewed. My personal favorite is the Greenworks Pro 3000 PSI pressure washer that I have reviewed extensively on my YouTube channel.

Let’s get started:

My experience with electric pressure washers

I’ve used a ton of electric pressure washers. While I’ve traditionally been a gas guy and used a nice Simpson pressure washer or others with Honda engines, I’ve transitioned to electric. Over the years, I’ve gotten my hands on some of the most popular electric pressure washers. While some have absolutely sucked, others have performance indistinguishable from gas, except much, much better user experience.

I’ve personally reviewed a handful of pressure washers over on my Youtube channel if you don’t believe me!

GPM and PSI on electric pressure washers

PSI stands for pound force per square inch, and represents the force of the water against whatever surface you are washing. GPM stands for gallons per minute, and tells you how much water volume is coming out of the nozzle.

PSI and GPM work hand in hand. Having a high PSI means you have a laser beam of power. The range in GPM tells you how wide the laser beam will be. So high PSI and low GPM means a super small beam. High PSI and high GPM means a big freaking cannon of water.

As you can see, both of these are important in order to achieve the maximum cleaning capacity of your pressure washer. Choose a pressure washer with a high enough PSI and GPM to accomplish your cleaning goals. Usually a PSI between 2000-3000 is perfect for homeowners, whereas anything above that is great for commercial use.

Different nozzle types on electric pressure washers

Most electric pressure washers come with four or five nozzles that all have different uses. Here are some of the common nozzles you might see on your pressure washer:

  • A 0 degree, or turbo, pressure washer nozzle – this concentrates the spraying force over the smallest area and is the most intense and powerful.
  • A 15 degree nozzle – this is great for a nice combination of power and a little bit of spraying width. 15 degree nozzles are awesome for concrete or stripping paint off of your deck.
  • A 25 degree nozzle – this adds a bit more surface area and is awesome for cleaning things at a distance, like second floor windows or other hard to reach places.
  • A 40 degree nozzle – the widest spray, great for pressure washing a car or other more sensitive areas where you don’t want to risk damaging the surface.

Some other attachments you might see include pressure washer surface cleaners, extension wands, or soap nozzles.

Brushless motors on electric pressure washers

One must have for electric pressure washers is a brushless motor. Brushless motors are an innovation in the electric motor world that produce less friction when running. Less friction means that the motor runs cooler, it lasts longer, is more durable, and more efficient.

Basically, brushless motors are the GOAT in electric pressure washers. Brushed electric motors are more prone to burning out due to the internal friction, especially with the frequent starting and stopping.

One word of caution – many electric pressure washers do NOT have brushless motors. Getting one with a brushless motor is EXTREMELY important. Easily the most valuable thing you can get in a pressure washer.

Typical price range of electric pressure washers

Most good electric pressure washers range about $300-$400. If you are getting a powerful electric pressure washer with a brushless motor and good components, then you get what you pay for.

Of course there are HUNDREDS of cheap electric pressure washers for sale on places like Amazon, but I would stay away from those. Some common complaints I’ve heard are that the connection ports are plastic-y and really cheap. Others just plain stop working or have their motors burn out after about an hour of use. You’ll see a lot of these for sale in the $100-$200 range and frequently on sale.

Let me break down the best ones you SHOULD be looking for.

Best electric pressure washers I’ve used

I’ve had the pleasure of using a ton of electric pressure washers and can give you my recommendation for my absolute favorites. After testing these extensively, it really gave me a solid sense of what features are most desirable in an electric pressure washer. Let’s get started with my top pick.

Greenworks 3000 PSI electric pressure washer

The Greenworks 3000 PSI electric pressure washer is a VERY solid pressure washer. I got it, tested it extensively, and posted a review of it on my Youtube channel.

Not only does it look cool, but it is easily the best electric pressure washer I’ve ever used. Here are a few features that made me obsessed with it:

  • One of the highest PSI electric pressure washers on the market
  • A brushless motor that comes with a ten (10) year warranty. That is a crazy warranty and lets you know just how well this is constructed.
  • Really easy to store and wheel around. The wheels are huge and are never-flat, so you don’t have to worry about filling them up with air.
  • It comes with a ton of nozzles, including a turbo nozzle, that all store super conveniently on a little dashboard.
  • A high quality hose and a really good waterproof extension cord both come included in the purchase.

This thing did a great job cleaning off my deck and even concrete pavers in my backyard. I was impressed. It is also for sale on Amazon for a really good price.

Sun Joe SPX3500 Electric Pressure Washer

I knock the Sun Joe in some of my other posts, but mostly because the predecessor to the SPX3500 was the extremely popular SPX3000. But the SPX3500 is named as the best Sun Joe pressure washer for a few reasons.

For starters, it has the things I recommend in all my electric lawn tools: a brushless motor. This was missing from some of the older Sun Joe pressure washers and is a massive step up from the SPX3000. But it is truly like the people at Sun Joe went and read all the negative Amazon reviews that they got on their other pressure washers and immediately implemented the changes into this pressure washer.

This not only includes the brushless motor, but a huge error in the hose connection port that now solidifies the connection with metal instead of cheap plastic. It also includes a much sturdier design that prevents the pressure washer from falling over when the hose gets pulled or the extension cord reaches the end of its slack.

But the best part is that this pressure washer comes in at a crazy good price. Right now it’s on Amazon for super cheap, which is something they kept from their earlier models.

Ryobi 3000 PSI electric pressure washer

Similarly to the Greenworks pressure washer listed above, this Ryobi electric pressure washer is a great option. It has a ton of power, has a sweet brushless motor, and comes with all the bells and whistles. The reason this one is a little lower on the list is two-fold.

First, the price on this pressure washer is a bit higher than the other two. Second, my neighbor owns this pressure washer and it is rotting in his garage right now because one of the O-rings is busted and he hasn’t gotten a replacement.

This is definitely just an anecdote but has concerned me enough to avoid buying one for myself.

I do think this is still a great option and it can be found at Home Depot for a better price.

Why we review electric pressure washers

The reason we started this website in the first place was because we had so much trouble trying to find reasonable, understandable, honest reviews for lawn equipment. And it’s not cheap! After hours and hours of research, trying products and returning them, and messing up our yards – we started this site.

As people who had to learn the hard way, we want you to know exactly what you are signing up for before you purchase a piece of equipment. That’s why we are committed to providing honest, easy-to-understand reviews that mean something.

3 Reliable Simpson Pressure Washers That Crush Dirt

Simpson pressure washers are known for one thing – reliability and power. The best Simpson pressure washer is the Simpson MegaShot 2800 PSI pressure washer because it has a great amount of power without being overwhelmingly large.

If that didn’t get you hooked to keep reading – then check out this little statistic: 90% of people with Simpson Pressure Washers name their children after them.

That also isn’t true – but these pressure washers are an incredible combination of power and price. Some amazing truth bombs are that these things last forever and are less expensive than some of the dinker electric pressure washers you see on the market.

Let’s break down the three best Simpson Pressure Washers on the market.

All of them have Honda engines – if you want more Honda, check out our post about the pressure washers with Honda engines.

Simpson MegaShot 2800 PSI 2.3 GPM pressure washer

The Simpson MegaShot 2800 PSI 2.3 GPM (MS60773) pressure washer made the top of our list for a few reasons. For starters, it is in the sweet spot for power for the average homeowner. 2800 PSI isn’t going to blast away the most insane paint stains, but it will definitely be enough to get your driveway clean.

What I really appreciate after reviewing a bunch of electric pressure washers with similar PSIs is just how much more efficient gas pressure washers are when it comes to gallons per minute. While this Simpson MegaShot pressure washer is in the same power ballpark as many electric pressure washers, it does so much more efficiently with more volume to help tackle jobs more quickly.

Here are some more features we love about this Simpson pressure washer:

  • Never Flat tires which means you won’t have to worry about keeping the air pumped up, or heaven forbid, replacing the tires
  • A 25 foot hose that’s very durable
  • The lovely Honda GCV170 engine
  • 4 quick connect nozzles that make changing out tips extremely easy (just don’t lose them)
  • A steel frame that keeps it upright and is crazy durable

Oh – and the best part is that it comes in at just over $350 and is available at Home Depot online.

I’ve also recently seen it on Amazon for an even LOWER price.

There’s a reason this one is so popular. It has everything the average homeowner could want in a pressure washer that’s built to last.

Simpson PowerShot 3300 PSI 2.5 GPM pressure washer

The PowerShot is crazy because it can truly serve in both a commercial and residential setting. It’s a great mixture of power, beauty, and versatility. My neighbor is getting their house painted right now and being the nerd that I am, I went and gave their pressure washer a look. It was this  one. And it was freakishly strong.

Let’s start with looks – the dang thing just looks cool. It comes with big, thick, rubber tires that allow you to take it over gravel or other rough terrain. My neighbor’s painters had this moving through mulch and all over their yard. Never Flat tires are amazing for around the house or on smooth surfaces, but get you into trouble for uneven surfaces.

But what you can’t see is the work Simpson took to make the plunger pump deliver even higher pressure at the tip of the nozzle. The hose itself is 1/16th of an inch bigger, allowing for maximum water delivery to help demolish whatever is in its path.

Here’s what stood out to us about the Simpson PowerShot:

  • It has a Honda GX200 engine, a step up from the older GCV190 models
  • Has PowerBoost technology (an improved plunger pump)
  • A thicker hose (thicker than a Snicker)
  • The all-terrain tires

One major drawback to this one is that it doesn’t come with a soap tank. So basically it can only be used for pure power delivery and blasting away the most absurd levels of dirt. It’s like Shaquille O’Neal – only has one speed and that is pure power.

This thing can be picked up from Home Depot online or in-store for a really good price. It also recently started being listed on Amazon, for an even better price.

Simpson MSH3125 MegaShot 3200 PSI Gas Pressure Washer

The Simpson MSH3125 MegaShot pressure washer is a really nice one.

For those that don’t know, the Honda GCV200 series is a step up from the GCV190 in terms of power and efficiency. But the GCV190 motor was still a beast and was a part of some of the most popular pressure washers and lawn mowers of all time. In my Honda GCV190 lawn mower, the engine runs just fine and starts on the first or second pull each time despite being 8 years old.

The MegaShot 3200 PSI pressure washer has a GCV190 just like my mower, and while it isn’t the newest, shiniest thing on the block, it still has insane performance. Here’s are some really good things to like about the MegaShot 3200:

But the best part – this thing is currently on sale at Amazon for under $400.

It’s also for sale at Home Depot – make sure to price compare! (right now it is better on Amazon)

What features to look for in a Simpson pressure washer

Simpson pressure washers make it relatively easy to knock off one of the biggest must-haves on your list: a reliable and powerful Honda engine. But there are a few other things we recommend truly making sure are available when searching for a new pressure washer.

Nozzles Matter

When choosing a pressure washer, you should pay attention to the nozzles included in the package. Two types of spray nozzles are available, adjustable spray nozzles that can be controlled and quick-connect nozzles with predefined spray patterns.

The predefined spray patterns typically come in different angles, allowing for you to quickly switch between a broad, lower pressure spray or a narrow, higher pressure stream.

Quick connect nozzles are super convenient, but they’re almost like airpods – you can lose them! Make sure you’ve got them stored well.

Soap tank availability

Additionally, you may want to consider a soap tank-equipped pressure washer. Some of these pressure washers have “foam cannons” where you can simply add some soap and it will mix it in with the water. Pretty cool.

I recommend a soap tank for cars and windows, otherwise they aren’t great for use on more forceful nozzles.

Wheels on pressure washers

Despite wheels being a seemingly minor feature, they can have a big impact, especially with larger units. No sense in lugging around one of these in your yard and tripping all over the place.

Some pressure washers have a tendency to flip over and be top heavy, so make sure the base is sturdy. If you’re on the job site, keep an eye out for never-flat tires that will protect the wheels in case there are spare nails laying around.

Hose types

There’s a big difference between how easy or difficult it is to use a pressure washer based on the kind of hose that comes with it. Stiff, rigid hoses make it extremely difficult to have any maneuverability without messing up the job or knocking over the base.

Length is also important for pressure washer hoses as you can end up in a tight spot, literally, if you don’t have enough reach.

GPM and PSI on electric pressure washers

GPM stands for gallons per minute. It measures how quickly water is leaving the end of the electric pressure washer. PSI stands for pounds per square inch and is a measure of pressure that is being applied out of the electric pressure washer.

If this is confusing to you, you’re not alone. In reality, if you are looking for power, you want both. They work hand-in-hand to deliver water from the machine at a high rate and effective and efficient volume.

For reference, a pressure washer can have a high PSI but a low GPM, meaning it is able to have a high pressure but generally not over a large area. Having both a high PSI and high GPM means that it’s coming out fast and it’s producing a more effective stream.

Likewise, you can also have a low PSI and higher GPM. This is a good ratio for cleaning cars because you get a lot of water at a safer pressure.

Our experience with pressure washers

We started The Lawn Review out of frustration. We couldn’t find clarity around what type of products were actually good and reliable. All the fertilizers we tried didn’t work. We ended up with a dying lawn, wasted time, and wasted money.

How we spend our time now.

So we started buying and reviewing lawn tools and figuring out which ones were the best. And now we’ve moved onto actually keeping that lawn looking nice all year around.

We’ve spent thousands of hours building this content for people just like you and me – normal people.

Gas vs. Electric Pressure Washers: Which Is Better For You?

greenworks 3000 psi pressure washer

Gas and electric pressure washers are two tools that can do the same job, but have drastically different experiences. I’ll tell you this up front – gas pressure washers are going to be much more powerful at their peak than electric but I still prefer electric pressure washers for my home.

But that doesn’t mean electric pressure washers aren’t great for the average homeowner. Itching to get your siding, windows, driveway, patio, and sidewalks clean this summer? You may be wondering which is the best option for whatever job you are trying to do.

The truth is, both can provide the cleaning power you need to accomplish all your spring and summer cleaning jobs. But, before you go shopping, you’ll want to understand the difference between gas and electric power washers so you make the right choice.

Let’s break it down for you.

My experience using gas and electric pressure washers

I own a Troy Bilt gas powered pressure washer and have reviewed and own a TON of electric pressure washers. Growing up my parents always had me doing one chore or another around the house – and they often included using a pressure washer. From cleaning windows to cars to the driveway to the deck around our pool – a gas pressure washer was my tool of choice.

A lot has changed since then, but not for the worse. I really enjoy my electric pressure washers including my Sun Joe SPX3000, my Greenworks 3000 PSI pressure washer, and even my cool garage-anchored reel pressure washer.

Key Differences in Gas and Electric Pressure Washers

As you may suspect, the main difference between gas and electric pressure washers is how they’re powered. What you may not realize is that one is far more powerful and effective. The other is less capable, yet may be just what you need. Consider the following to decide which will be most appropriate for your needs.

Electric pressure washers are generally cheaper than gas

If you’re looking for a budget friendly option, an electric pressure washer is a good choice. They’re less expensive than a gas powered pressure washer initially. Whenever you plug it in to use it, you’ll also incur a slight increase in your electric bill – but I doubt you would ever notice.. A gas powered pressure washer will be more expensive, but they are higher quality. Gas washers can also be repaired whereas electric power washers may not last very long.

Electric pressure washers have gotten a lot more durable, however. One thing I really like about my Greenworks 3000 PSI pressure washer is that it has a ten (10!!) year warranty on the motor. They now make brushless motors which are way more durable and last a lot longer.

Electric pressure washers aren’t as durable as gas

Even a high-quality electric pressure washer won’t be nearly as durable as a gas powered washer. If you work your electric pressure washer too hard, you may burn it up, meaning you’ll need to buy a new one. A gas washer, on the other hand, will last for many seasons with proper maintenance.

Gas powered pressure washers compared to electric are really reliable and can handle running for a really long time. Because they are small gas engines generally made by someone like Honda, they run FOREVER as long as you put gas in and do the bare minimum maintenance.

Electric pressure washers are more versatile than gas pressure washers

A gas powered pressure washer can literally be used anywhere. Contrarily, you’re restricted by the length of your power cord for an electric pressure washer. One thing I like about electric pressure washers is that some of them can be used with a battery and taken literally anywhere (literally). A good example of this is the 24V Power Cleaner from Greenworks, which is for light duty cleaning but extremely portable.

Gas pressure washers are way louder than electric

Electric power washers, like other electric yard and garden equipment offer quieter operation. This may be important if you live in a close neighborhood with sensitive neighbors. Gas powered pressure washers, on the other hand, can be very loud to operate. But, the job gets done faster, so there’s a trade-off.

As I write this, my neighbors across the street are getting the exterior of their house repainted. The dudes showed up this morning with a freakish gas pressure washer that is EXTREMELY loud and disruptive – but powerful as heck. Electric pressure washers definitely don’t make a good sound and aren’t as quiet as you would think, but are way better than gas.

Which is better: Gas or Electric Pressure Washers?

So, what’s the best option? A gas or electric pressure washer? That depends upon you and your needs. If you need something for heavy-duty cleaning and you don’t mind the noise and fumes, gas power is the way to go. For lighter, infrequent use in residential areas, you may want to consider a good-quality electric pressure washer.

I use an electric pressure washer 90% of the time because it is super easy to start and stop, doesn’t require maintenance, and can handle most projects around the house. The other 10% is used for stripping old paint or pressure washing my driveway with a surface cleaner attachment.

Pressure Washer GPM vs PSI: Explained (2024)

PSI and GPM are two acronyms to know when it comes to buying a new pressure washer. Both are often used to express the power of the pressure washer, but as I found out the hard way, are very different measurements.

A good pressure washer is an indispensable tool for your home, yard, and property. But, choosing the right machine for your needs can be a little confusing. That’s especially true when you’re faced with terms you may not be familiar with.

For example, every pressure washer you look at will have a GPM and PSI rating. These are specifications that determine your pressure washer’s power and capabilities. Understanding these two specs and how they affect your pressure washer’s performance is a key to success.

What Do GPM and PSI Mean on a Pressure Washer?

Pressure washers are designed to create a strong, steady stream of water for washing and cleaning. Both GPM and PSI are important factors to consider when buying and using one. Here’s a quick rundown of what each is and how they affect your power washer’s performance.

What Is GPM on a pressure washer?

Gallons Per Minute, or GPM is the volume of water that leaves your pressure washer. Generally, GPM ratings will range anywhere from 1.2 gallons per minute to 4 gallons per minute. If you’re a novice, or will only use your pressure washer occasionally for light cleaning, opt for a lower GPM to begin with. Higher GPM is more suitable for heavy-duty cleaning.

The higher the GPM, the more water that flows, meaning your cleaning jobs will go quicker because the water spreads farther. However, a lot of water over a large surface doesn’t have much cleaning power. For that, you need a higher PSI.

Gas pressure washers tend to have higher PSI and GPM than electric pressure washers.

What Is PSI on a Pressure Washer?

PSI, or pound-force per square inch, is the amount of cleaning pressure your machine is capable of producing. It’s the force of the water as it is pushed through the nozzle. You can adjust the PSI to ensure a proper cleaning and to avoid damage. For example, a high PSI but a low GPM, will produce a high amount of pressure over a fairly small area.

Which Is More Important, PSI or GPM on a pressure washer?

PSI and GPM work hand in hand. Having a high PSI means you have a laser beam of power. The range in GPM tells you how wide the laser beam will be. So high PSI and low GPM means a super small beam. High PSI and high GPM means a big freaking cannon of water.

As you can see, both of these are important in order to achieve the maximum cleaning capacity of your pressure washer. Choose a pressure washer with a high enough PSI and GPM to accomplish your cleaning goals. However, stay away from commercial pressure washers with a high PSI. This type of pressure washer will be tougher to operate due to the increased force of the water. An inexperienced user may find it to be very physically demanding, if not impossible to use safely and effectively.

A lot of these you won’t have to worry about accidentally buying because they are so darn expensive. I’d stick with a nice electric pressure washer that is incapable of getting out of hand.

What Are the Best PSI and GPM Settings?

When choosing a new power washer, you’ll want to look for one that provides enough power to achieve your goals. If you have fairly light duty cleaning you want to do occasionally, opt for a lower powered model. Big jobs to tackle? Choose a pressure washer with a higher GPM and PSI rating to get the job done fast and effectively.

No matter what you’re using your pressure washer for, or what its settings are, make sure you work safely. Wear safety goggles and other protective equipment and keep children and pets away from the machine.

Ultimate Guide to Pressure Washer Nozzle Tips: 2024

Pressure washer nozzle types vary significantly depending on the type of job you’re doing. They can range from a soft, light mist all the way to an intense, laser-like cannon that crushes paint.

The sun’s out and all that built up dirt and grime on your home, garage, sidewalks, driveway, and vehicles is highly visible. A pressure washer is a fast, effective way to clean all these surfaces, and more. Before you fire up your new DIY tool, there are a few things that you should know about the nozzles that came with it. Otherwise, you may damage your home, car, or you may even injure yourself or someone else.

Pressure Washer Nozzle Type Basics

The nozzles are arguably the most important component of your pressure washer. As the water flows through the restricted opening of the nozzle its velocity increases. The force of the water hitting surfaces forces dirt and debris to be removed. The number of nozzles you’ll have to work with depends on the pressure washer manufacturer. Most of these come in quick-connect formats that allow you to quickly pop on and off different nozzles.

Credit to Ryobi for this great explanation.

You can pop off the nozzles by pulling back on the tip of the spray gun and popping on the new nozzle.

Follow these general guidelines for when to use each type of pressure washer nozzle:

0° Pressure Washer Nozzle (also called Turbo Nozzle)

This nozzle provides the highest pressure your unit can handle. It’s best for areas like concrete driveways, sidewalks, graffiti, or objects that are further  away. It’s also the ideal nozzle for cleaning stains from concrete and metal. Beware though, If you hold the nozzle too close for too long, you’ll carve a hole in your surface. This nozzle will also strip paint from wood surfaces and may even damage the wood itself, so use with caution.

The 0 degree nozzle funnels all of the PSI into the smallest area, giving maximum allowable pressure to whatever surface is unlucky enough to be on the receiving end. If you are going to clean a driveway, it may be better to use a pressure washer surface cleaner attachment instead of the 0 degree nozzle.

15° Pressure Washer Nozzle

This is the best nozzle for removing tough stains like mold and mildew on fences and other structures made of PVC. Your 15° nozzle will produce a very strong spray, so don’t hold it in one area for too long. If you’re cleaning your siding, spray from a distance to ensure even coverage across the vinyl. Don’t use this nozzle for painted wood siding or trim unless you’re prepping it for painting because it will strip the paint off.

This nozzle is great for cleaning things like patio pavers. It delivers a ton of power still without taking quite as long as the 0 degree nozzle.

25° Pressure Washer Nozzle

Beginner? The best place to start is with the green 25° nozzle If you’re going to clean your home’s siding, wood decks, concrete sidewalks, or even your driveway, this is the best nozzle for the job. In fact, it’s the right choice for cleaning just about everything around your home and garage including your yard and garden equipment and off-road vehicles.

My sister in law hates to get her hands dirty, but absolutely loves using her pressure washer. It is a mystery. Either way, she uses the 25 degree nozzle to wash off their garage door because it has a decent amount of power, a wider spray pattern, and won’t damage paint.

40° Pressure washer Nozzle

.Got a delicate surface to clean like your home’s windows or your beautiful car? Grab the 40° nozzle. It gives you the widest spray pattern of all your nozzles. The wide spray and low pressure make it perfect for cleaning all your delicate surfaces without fear of damage. It’s also exceptional for rinsing off patio furniture, play equipment, and outdoor toys.

These nozzles are great for windows, too. I always get the window sales people coming to my house because my windows are really old, but boy do they stay clean when I have this thing knocking off all the pollen.

Specialty Nozzles

Your pressure washer may also have come with a variety of special nozzles. These may include a turbo nozzle for edge cleaning, a soap nozzle, or a foam cannon. Each of these nozzles are great “bonus” nozzles for your pressure washer that let you do parts of the job more quickly. Soap cannons and foam cannons are great for washing the car and give you the same substance as driving through the car wash (although less scary).

Time to Start Pressure Washing!

Now that you have an understanding of your power washer nozzles and their uses, it’s time to get busy. Remember to always follow the manufacturer’s directions for the safe and proper use of your power washer and choose the appropriate nozzle for each job.

What features to look for in a pressure washer

Honda pressure washers make it relatively easy to knock off one of the biggest must-haves on your list: a reliable and powerful engine. But there are a few other things we recommend truly making sure are available when searching for a new pressure washer.

Nozzles Matter

  • When choosing a pressure washer, you should pay attention to the nozzles included in the package. Two types of spray nozzles are available, adjustable spray nozzles that can be controlled and quick-connect nozzles with predefined spray patterns.
  • The predefined spray patterns typically come in different angles, allowing for you to quickly switch between a broad, lower pressure spray or a narrow, higher pressure stream.
  • Quick connect nozzles are super convenient, but they’re almost like airpods – you can lose them!

Soap tank availability

  • Additionally, you may want to consider a soap tank-equipped pressure washer. Some of these pressure washers have “foam cannons” where you can simply add some soap and it will mix it in with the water. Pretty cool.
  • I recommend a soap tank for cars and windows.

Wheels on pressure washers

  • Despite these seemingly minor features, they can have a big impact, especially with larger units. No sense in lugging around one of these in your yard and tripping all over the place.
  • Some pressure washers have a tendency to flip over and be top heavy, so make sure the base is sturdy.
  • If you’re on the job site, keep an eye out for never-flat tires that will protect the wheels in case there are spare nails laying around.

Hose types

  • There’s a big difference between how easy or difficult it is to use a pressure washer based on the kind of hose that comes with it. Stiff, rigid hoses make it extremely difficult to have any maneuverability without messing up the job or knocking over the base.
  • Length is also important for pressure washer hoses as you can end up in a tight spot, literally, if you don’t have enough reach.

GPM and PSI on electric pressure washers

GPM stands for gallons per minute. GPM measures how quickly water is leaving the end of the electric pressure washer.

Best Pressure Washer PSI for Washing Cars: 2024 Update

Pressure washing your car is the sure fire way to get rid of all of the dirt. But the real value of pressure washing your car comes in around the rims. For a car, the ideal PSI for cleaning with a pressure washer is between 1000-2000 PSI.

I used to drive an old BMW 325i (2004). The brake dust on those bad boys is world-famous for collecting black dirt all around the rims. Doesn’t come off with the spray of a hose – this stuff requires a serious scrubbing. You could drive down to the local car wash to get it cleaned, but somehow, that’s just not good enough.

You’d rather carefully clean it yourself so you know that it’s properly done. Rather than a bucket of soapy water and a garden hose, many people choose to use a pressure washer for this essential task. It’s a great idea, but it’s important that you choose a pressure washer with the appropriate PSI to avoid damaging your vehicle.

What Does PSI Have to Do With Washing My Car?

PSI or pounds per square inch, refers to the amount of force the water coming out of your pressure washer has. The higher the PSI, the more force behind the water.

If you’ve ever washed your vehicle using a garden hose and sprayer, you know that there’s very little force behind the water. It can’t really remove any of the dirt without a great deal of effort and time on your part. The reason is simple, there isn’t enough pressure (PSI) to create the force necessary for a good cleaning.

After reading that last bit, you may think that a high PSI is necessary to get all that dirt and grunge off your car, that’s not necessarily the case. In fact, if you use a machine with too high of a PSI, it can severely damage the paint or break your windows. That’s something you simply do not want, so you need to choose a machine with the appropriate PSI setting.

Can High PSI Really Damage My Vehicle?

Absolutely. If you’re using a heavy-duty pressure washer with a high PSI, it can be difficult to handle. You could easily lose control of the wand and damage your vehicle’s paint job. Hold the nozzle in one place for too long and you could dent the surface, remove the paint, or even blast a hole in one of your windows. You could also put yourself at risk of injury if the PSI is too much for you to handle.

So, What PSI Is Best for Washing My Car?

Clearly, a garden hose has way too little PSI, but a heavy duty pressure washer will produce way too much pressure. There is a happy medium, however. The best PSI rating for car washing with a pressure washer is somewhere between 1200 and 2200 PSI. This kind of force will easily remove caked on mud, road tar, and other dirt and grime from your vehicle, tires, and windows.

Look for a home-use pressure washer that delivers a moderate PSI to keep your vehicle clean and shiny this summer, but don’t stop there. You can also use it to clean your RV, boat, off-road vehicles, and more. Plus, it’ll come in handy for a variety of home cleaning projects that require a more delicate touch.

Best pressure washer for washing cars

My favorite pressure washer for washing cars is the light duty Greenworks 1600 PSI electric pressure washer. Greenworks makes a ton of good pressure washers – a ton of them we have reviewed and I still own a few.

The Greenworks 1600 PSI electric pressure washer is a little on the low end for pressure on a car, but it is definitely safe. One thing I love about this one is the size of the machine. A lot of the other electric pressure washers are tall and some even have hose reels on the top of them.

The bad thing about taller pressure washers is that they can easily be tipped over. Not exactly what you want when you’re up close to your car trying to do some detailed cleaning work. These can easily tip over and scratch your car – something you can’t just wipe off.

The Greenworks 1600 PSI pressure washer also comes with a nice little soap cannon so you can add your own mixture to the outside of the car prior to a nice rinse. The best reason of all to grab this pressure washer is that it is currently on sale for under $100. You can grab it on Amazon where it frequently goes on sale.

What PSI Pressure Washer Is Best For Home Use? (2024)

Pressure washers have serious PSI that let you knock out a huge range of jobs around the house. The best pressure washer PSI range for around the house is 2000-3000 PSI.

Let’s face it: your garden hose and a sprayer just aren’t enough to clean tough stains and dirt. A pressure washer, however, is a much more effective and fast method. Whether you use a gas or electric pressure washer, cleaning your house, concrete surfaces, and even your car is a breeze.

What you may not know is that the PSI of your pressure washer can affect its performance and your results. If you choose a machine with the right PSI, it’ll make your cleaning project go quicker and it’ll turn out better.

What Does PSI Mean on a Pressure Washer?

This measurement is called pounds per square inch, or PSI. Your pressure washer’s cleaning power is measured by the amount of pressure that the machine can produce. The higher the pressure rating, the more powerful the spray. When shopping for a pressure washer, you’ll want to find one that suits your needs. Some things to consider include:

Light Duty Pressure Washers (up to 1899 PSI)

This is the perfect pressure for all those smaller jobs around the home, For example, clearing light debris from the sidewalk, washing the car, and cleaning your house’s windows. Because they’re small and light, they’re also ideal for cleaning patio furniture, grills, and other smaller items.

Really light duty pressure washers can also come as power cleaners: handheld, super easy-to-use tools that can be taken with you wherever you go. We’ve done a major review of Greenworks’ 24V Portable Power Cleaner as well as the Worx Hydroshot.

Medium Duty Pressure Washers (2000 to 3200)

Medium-duty pressure washers are the best choice for typical home and garden use. They are much sturdier and more powerful than the light-duty machine, which makes them ideal for frequent use. Pull out this kind of machine when you’re cleaning your home’s siding, fencing, decks, concrete patios, and other hard to clean surfaces.

When I think of medium duty pressure washers, I always think of a good electric pressure washer. Here are some of my favorite electric pressure washer brands:

Heavy Duty Pressure Washers (2800 to 3099 PSI)

If you have a large-scale cleaning job such as a big driveway, multi-story home, or large building, you may want to employ a heavy duty power washer. This is also a great machine for stripping paint off of wood siding and trim to help prep it for new paint. That said, you’ll want to be careful around painted surfaces you don’t want to strip to avoid having to repaint.

One of my favorite heavy duty electric pressure washers is the Greenworks 3000 PSI pressure washer, which is super powerful and comes with a 10 year limited warranty. It is also a great price on Amazon.

Commercial Duty (3100 PSI or More)

This is the type of power washer professionals use to quickly and effectively clean large surfaces like buildings, parking lots, and other areas. It’s extremely powerful and can be incredibly difficult to operate if you’re unaccustomed to the force it produces. Gas pressure washers fall into this category more than electric by far. For most home users, this is simply too much PSI to handle. Leave this kind of heavy machinery to the pros.

I don’t often (or ever) use commercial duty pressure washers, but when I do I rent them from Home Depot. Just way cheaper that way and I don’t have to maintain them or store them.

What is a cleaning unit on a pressure washer?

A cleaning unit is a measurement that helps you understand the overall power combination by applying the PSI and the GPM together. Multiplying the two can give you the cleaning unit like the below formula:

PSI x GPM = Cleaning units

Having this calculation can help you easily calculate the overall power output of pressure washers and compare them for easy shopping.

How To Choose a Pressure Washer With the Right PSI

Before you invest in a new power washer, carefully consider what you’ll be using it for. Are the majority of your cleaning projects small-scale such as patio furniture and your car? If so, a light-duty machine may be your best option. If you’ve got bigger, tougher cleaning jobs you’ll be taking on frequently, a medium or heavy-duty pressure washer may be the best choice. You’ll also want to take into consideration your ability to operate the machine safely and effectively. It’s always best to err on the side of caution if you’re unsure of yourself.

3 Satisfying Pressure Washer Surface Cleaners for Driveways

The best pressure washer surface cleaner for most homeowners is the Greenworks Universal Pressure washer cleaner because it is inexpensive and should fit just about any electric pressure washer. If you need to go bigger, there are other options I have ranked below.

For most folks, a simple attachment to your existing pressure washer is enough to get the job done. There’s nuance to picking a surface cleaner out (which is why we wrote this article), but first know that you need a pressure washer to get the job done.

We have written extensively about electric pressure washers and gas pressure washers (see each link for more), so once you’ve nailed that, then let’s pick out a surface cleaner.

Jump ahead:

Pressure washer surface cleaners: Ranked by Type

If you’re doing a pressure washer job, there’s a huge variety in how much power you need. The range is somewhere between getting pollen off your deck and removing extreme chemicals from  the side of the highway.

A nice electric pressure washer we’ve reviewed from Greenworks.

So let’s break down the best types of surface cleaners for each job.

A normal pressure washer surface cleaner for homeowners

For light duty cleaning, we are talking about cleaning off back decks, front porches, and small driveways and sidewalks with a surface cleaner. This is where most residential folks fall. And most residential folks are using an electric pressure washer like one from Greenworks or Ryobi.

If you have one of those, you’re in luck. Most electric pressure washer brands have their own surface cleaner attachments they sell separately. They also happen to be universal, so you can pick whichever one you like best despite it being from another brand.

If you’re going to grab one, check out the Greenworks Universal Pressure Washer attachment. I like this one mostly because of the price (generally super low on Amazon). For me, this thing  will only get used 1-2x per year so I don’t feel like shelling out a hundred bucks.

Greenworks universal surface cleaner

Some great things about this pressure washer surface cleaner are that it has an 11 inch cleaning width that is great for smaller jobs and is universal – so works with any pressure washer.

The one downside is that it is pretty light (yes, that can be a downside) and only works with a maximum of 2000 PSI on a pressure washer. Again, this is going to be for light duty jobs so that PSI range isn’t too much of an issue. Because of both the width and the pressure limitations, you’ll have to move slowly and steadily with this one – but it will get the job done.

Strong pressure washer surface cleaner for commercial use

For commercial use, like professional driveway cleaners and folks that clean up playgrounds and office parks, I recommend two things that are different from the residential.

The first is a much wider cleaner and the  second is the ability to have much higher PSI. If you have never heard of Simpson pressure washers, then you probably haven’t been paying attention. They make some really powerful gas pressure washers that use Honda engines, which are reliable and strong.

Simpson also makes a really good universal scrubber that is 15 inches wide, has steel construction, and is designed for higher power pressure washers. The PSI range on this one comes with a minimum of 3000 PSI (the necessary amount to get the internal hoses spinning) and a maximum of 3700 PSI. Perfect for a gas powered pressure washer.

Simpson’s is a bit wider.

I also like that it is over double the weight of the Greenworks attachment used for residential purposes. You’ll see a lot of different pressure washer surface cleaners on Amazon and other places that all look the same. The Simpson brand name on this one actually means something.

You can grab this one online for a ridiculously good price on Amazon.

Best all-around pressure washer surface cleaner

The best all-around surface cleaner comes from a brand named Karcher – which isn’t a very big brand but puts out a few good products and a dang good surface cleaner. This one is the baby of the Simpson and the Greenworks surface cleaners, with the versatility of both.

The Karcher Universal Pressure Washer Attachment has a 15 inch width just like the commercial one, but is designed for a larger suite of pressure washers. There’s a range of 2600-3200 PSI on this one, meaning it can be used with most gas and electric pressure washers.

It still has a universal attachment, but also has some additional products you can get along with it – like an extension wand that stops you from being completely bent over the entire time you’re cleaning.

Karcher rocked it with this one.

I picked this one because Karcher is a reputable brand and this item is super popular. It is popular because it’s so versatile. When my son inevitably starts a pressure washing business, this is going to be the first thing I give to him as an investment. He can use it for residential jobs and decide whether or not he wants to invest in something bigger and badder as time goes on.

It also has a reasonable price and goes on sale very frequently at Amazon.

Bottom line: Surface cleaners

Surface cleaners for pressure washers are awesome tools that make your washer way more versatile. One of my friends used to own a pressure washer business and its wild to think that he didn’t use one of these back in the day – he just got up real close with his washer and took a few hours. Yikes!

What to look for in a pressure washer surface cleaner

When you’re looking to buy a pressure washer surface cleaner, it’s a bit of a confusing process. A bunch of brands make them, they all look like big hockey pucks, and there isn’t really much of a difference.

Oh, but there is.

Width

Width is an important element because it means everything for saving time on the pressure washing job. The wider, the better (up to a point). When you start getting into the 15 inch and above range, you start getting into commercial territory. These are the guys on Youtube that pressure wash driveways in like 2 minutes and claim to be extremely rich.

Most of us don’t need all that. But if you do, go wide and get a super powerful pressure washer that can handle it. The rest of us are good with under 15 inches of width.

Maximum and minimum PSI

Some of the pressure washer surface cleaners have a maximum PSI. When you get into the wider surface cleaners, you’ll start to see a minimum as well. These surface cleaners work by having two spinning nozzles inside that move really really fast and require a certain amount of pressure to keep going.

For the smaller ones, too much pressure will cause them to break. Make sure to match the surface cleaner PSI to the PSI on your pressure washer.

Weight

Weight is important because these can put you in a weird situation. Pressure washer surface cleaners exert a significant amount of pressure downward onto the concrete. If you remember those physics nerds, they always said something about equal and opposite reactions.

Featherweight surface cleaners actually will lift up off of the ground and make the job harder to control. I actually look for a bit of weight that can hold the cleaner in a straight line and use all the downward force on the concrete, not me.

GPM vs PSI on pressure washers

GPM stands for gallons per minute. GPM measures how quickly water is leaving the end of the electric pressure washer. PSI stands for pounds per square inch and is a measure of pressure that is being applied out of the electric pressure washer.

Testing the PSI on a pressure washer

UberFlex vs FlexZilla: Two Solid Pressure Washer Hoses

UberFlex and FlexZilla aren’t just the names of me and my boys when we are looking in the mirror at the gym. They’re the names of two ridiculous pressure washer hoses. I prefer the FlexZilla pressure washer hose because it is simply indestructible.

The world of hoses has always been an incredibly vast one, especially nowadays with Amazon being such a big player. If you got into this, you must have already noticed how overwhelmed the market is with various products. Today we are here for you to narrow down the subject and talk about two super popular hoses: UberFlex and FlexZilla.

When you are using a pressure washer, you want to make sure you have a solid hose that doesn’t kill all your power or become a massive tangled mess.

So, without going too much around it, let’s dive in and see which one would take the lead in 2023!

Jump ahead:

UberFlex vs Flexzilla pressure washer competition

In each of the categories we’ve listed above as important features of a pressure washer, we compare both the UberFlex and Flexzilla to see which one we liked the best. Let’s jump right in.

Storage comparison: Wrapping up FlexZilla and UberFlex hoses

The beautiful thing about pressure washer hoses that you buy aftermarket is that they tend to have way better performance. Most pressure washers use a 25 or 35 foot hose, so 50 is a huge upgrade.

But that means more to wrap up and store. And pressure washer hoses are known for being rigid and difficult to maneuver.

So we took both of these and put them to the test.

They coil nicely!

At first, both of these hoses were extremely rigid, but after a few uses, they tamed down and flattened. One thing I noticed with the UberFlex that I didn’t with the FlexZilla hose is that the UberFlex seemed to get tangled a lot more. I’m not sure if it is the material, or what. It didn’t kink, but seemed to get tied up into a not every time I unraveled it.

Rolling them up – they felt almost identical. I felt like the FlexZilla had a slightly easier time rolling up than the UberFlex did, providing slightly more “give” during the wrapping process.

Winner: FlexZilla pressure washer hose!

Power retention: UberFlex vs Flexzilla

I found that with both of these hoses, the 50 ft versions retained the same power that the stock 25 ft hoses kept. These performed almost identically with my Greenworks electric pressure washer.

With the FlexZilla’s hybrid polymer construction, I assumed it would retain a lot more power as the material itself seems harder. But the polyester Uberflex hose surprisingly seemed to keep all of the power output.

I wish I had more to say here but at least from an eye-test, the two had similar results. This is a huge benefit to anybody looking to upgrade their pressure washer hose length without sacrificing power.

Made quick work of this deck clean!

Now before any of you nerds tell me about some sort of physics and how the pressure technically has to decrease, I’m here to tell you I don’t care. I didn’t notice any appreciable  difference between FlexZilla or UberFlex. Neither will you.

Winner: It’s a tie!

Durability and leakage in pressure washer hoses

Both the FlexZilla and UberFlex pressure washer hoses claim to not kink. I mean I fall for just about every marketing gimmick out there so I took this at face value, but had some suspicions in the top of my mind.

But holy crap. Neither of them kink, guys. It’s pretty incredible once you’ve used it a couple times to not worry about it folding in half and simply laying flat like a good dog.

Uberflex opening at 14mm.

Another great thing that both of these have is great connector points. A traditional hose is just not going to cut it and the plastic fittings that come on stock pressure washer hoses are just flat out unreliable.

These two hoses have almost identical fittings and stem sizes and construction. There is no discernable difference between the two and they both do a great job of preventing leakage, making the absolute most of the power from your water source.

Flexzilla can take a beating.

One thing that you can tell a difference in is the build of the FlexZilla. It can take an absolute beating, mostly because it is made of that hybrid polymer instead of the UberFlex’s polyester construction. FlexZilla has a patent pending on the material and construction, telling you what they’ve built is truly unique.

I’ve gotta hand it to the folks at FlexZilla – they are absolute scientists when it comes to pressure washer hose design.

Winner: FlexZilla

Cost Comparison: UberFlex vs FlexZilla pressure washer hoses

At the 50 ft mark (the size we recommend), the FlexZilla comes in at about $58 whereas the UberFlex sits at right about $50.

One thing we’ve noticed is that the price is always changing (for example, the FlexZilla is on sale for 20% off right now).

You can check the FlexZilla price here on Amazon and the UberFlex price here – one is bound to be on sale.

Our overall winner for best pressure washer hose

While the FlexZilla and UberFlex are nearly identical in every way, I liked the FlexZilla’s inability to get tangled and overall durability slightly more than UberFlex. To me, it is worth the additional $8 to not get the hose into a tangled mess as easily as the UberFlex does.

You can grab the FlexZilla pressure washer hose for a great price on Amazon.

Why we started The Lawn Review

We started The Lawn Review out of frustration. We couldn’t find clarity around what type of products were actually good and reliable. All the fertilizers we tried didn’t work. We ended up with a dying lawn, wasted time, and wasted money.

We take tool testing seriously!

So we started buying and reviewing lawn tools and figuring out which ones were the best. And now we’ve moved onto actually keeping that lawn looking nice all year around.

What to look for in a pressure washer hose

It’s important when buying a pressure washer hose to make sure it has a few characteristics:

  1. Storage: make sure it’s easy to wind and store, otherwise it will become a tangled mess in your garage or shed.
  2. Power retention: some hoses lack the internal rigidity to keep the pressure at a high enough level for the pressure washers to have any PSI left over.
  3. Leakage protection: if they leak water at either connection point then it’s a huge waste of potential pressure.
  4. Durability: total waste to have a pressure washer hose that cracks or gets punctured super easily.

These are the things we look for when testing pressure washer hoses. If you want to see some great electric pressure washers that we ranked, check out our post!

Sun Joe vs Greenworks Electric Pressure Washers

Sun Joe vs Greenworks pressure washers is like comparing Toyota and Honda. Both brands of pressure washers are known for being extremely popular, easy to use, and affordable. I like the Greenworks pressure washer because it is slightly higher quality.

If you haven’t read some of our other posts about Sun Joe Pressure Washers, you may know that the best selling Sun Joe pressure washer of all time is their SPX3000. But it actually isn’t their best one. The SPX 4600 is actually their most powerful and expensive pressure washer, which is a great comparison to the Greenworks PRO 2300 PSI Brushless pressure washer.

Bottom Line: You can grab the Greenworks 2300 PSI pressure washer from Greenworks website directly or from Amazon for a great price.

Sun Joe vs Greenworks: Best Electric Pressure Washer Comparison

I think by now we understand a few things: Sun Joe and Greenworks make great products, but have a significant range of power and cost. That’s why we need to compare their top dogs and evaluate their power, durability, and extra features. There’s a reason these two are top sellers – they are the best analog to gas-powered pressure washers.

Let’s start with power!

The Greenworks pressure washer provides more power than Sun Joe

When it comes to looking at power on a pressure washer, there are two main components I look at: PSI and GPM. PSI stands for pounds per square inch and is a measure of the pressure. It sounds simple, but it gets more complex because GPM is also in the mix. GPM stands for gallons per minute, and measures how much water is coming out, or how wide the stream is. The nozzle tip then can pare that down to zero degrees, forty degrees, or anywhere in between to help focus the stream to accomplish your job.

It looks really nice.

It’s similar to blowers that have MPH (speed) and CFM (area). You ideally want a combination of both PSI and GPM to have an efficient tool.

The Greenworks 2300 PSI pressure washer puts out 2,300 PSI of pressure at 2.3 GPM. This is not only pretty powerful, but also a much larger GPM than most other pressure washers. On the other hand, the Sun Joe SPX4600 puts out 3000 PSI at 1.3 GPM.

That’s a big difference.

What’s more is that Greenworks is rating their PSI at the consistent running pressure of the tool. Sun Joe is rating theirs at the initial pull of the trigger, when the PSI build up is the highest. In reality, the Sun Joe pressure washer rates at 2,300 PSI as well. Is that false advertising? Maybe.

The 3000 PSI pressure washer has even MORE power.

So when it comes to power, the Greenworks pressure washer and the Sun Joe pressure washer actually put out the exact same PSI when they’re fully running. The main differentiator is that the Greenworks pressure washer has an additional 1.0 GPM of flow, making it the far more effective and efficient pressure washer.

Don’t be fooled – the winner of this competition is the Greenworks 2300 PSI pressure washer.

The Greenworks is a more durable pressure washer

Durability in pressure washers is more than just the motor. While motors are important, it’s also necessary to look at fittings, hose types, and overall construction. One of the most popular pressure washers, the Sun Joe SPX3000 has a plastic fitting for the output hose, which is known to crack and has likely cost the company millions in returns.

The nozzle that people hate on the SPX3000.

Starting with motors, the most important thing to have is a brushless motor. To be clear, both the Sun Joe and Greenworks pressure washers have brushless motors. Brushless motors are cooler running, provide more torque, and overall are more durable. So this is a great start.

One differentiator on the Greenworks pressure washer when compared to the Sun Joe is the fact that its brushless motor, coined “TruBrushless” comes with a 10 year warranty. Folks, that is EXTREMELY compelling. You basically won’t have to worry about the motor….EVER. The Sun Joe only has a 2 year warranty.

Otherwise, both have metal fittings for hose output connection and both have sturdy metal bases that allow for them to not tip over when the hose gets pulled (believe me, it’s common).

Sturdy construction helps this one.

The last thing I will say about this Greenworks 2300 PSI pressure washer is that it is PWMA certified, which means the Pressure Washer Manufacturer Association has taken it apart and certified all of its specifications as legit. Sadly, Sun Joe’s SPX4600 may not pass that test.

Winner: Greenworks 2300 PSI pressure washer.

Both pressure washers have similar usability features

Once you’ve checked the boxes on both power and durability, the last part is checking out what kind of “nice-to-haves” each of these pressure washers have.

Has a lot to like!

Here’s a quick breakdown of some of the SPX4600’s features:

  • Onboard detergent tank for soap, up to a full gallon
  • Total stop system that preserves energy
  • 34 inch wand, 20 foot hose, 35 foot power cord
  • 5 nozzles (including a soap nozzle)

Let’s compare that to the Greenworks 2300 PSI:

  • Onboard detergent tank
  • 25 foot hose, 35 foot power cord
  • 5 nozzles, including a soap and a turbo nozzle

They both have on board nozzle holder that allows you to store them and they both have big big back wheels that make transporting it easy.

Winner: It’s a tie!

The Greenworks pressure washer is less expensive

The Sun Joe SPX4600 comes in at $359 (when not on sale) whereas the Greenworks 2300 PSI comes in at $329 when not on sale.

Currently you can get the Greenworks on Amazon or on the Greenworks website. It tends to go on sale frequently, so make sure to keep checking the price.

The Sun Joe SPX4600 is also available on Amazon for an ever-changing price, but can be found on Sun Joe’s website as well.

It’s tough to compare the two when their prices swing wildly, but at its MSRP the Greenworks is the more affordable of the two.

Greenworks vs Sun Joe Pressure Washer: Winner

This one was not what we expected when we started doing our research. At first glance, the Sun Joe pressure washer appears to be the better option. But after applying some of the knowledge we’ve gained over the past few years and looking closer, the true winner is the Greenworks 2300 PSI TruBrushless Pressure Washer.

It has more power, an insane warranty, and a better price with all the same bells and whistles. You can grab it today on Amazon and keep it going under warranty for the next 10 years.

Why we review lawn tools

The reason we started this website in the first place was because we had so much trouble trying to find reasonable, understandable, honest reviews for lawn equipment. And it’s not cheap! After hours and hours of research, trying products and returning them, and messing up our yards – we started this site.

How we test our products.

As people who had to learn the hard way, we want you to know exactly what you are signing up for before you purchase a piece of equipment. That’s why we are committed to providing honest, easy-to-understand reviews that mean something.

The bare wand without nozzles attached.

Soap tank availability

  • Additionally, you may want to consider a soap tank-equipped pressure washer. Some of these pressure washers have “foam cannons” where you can simply add some soap and it will mix it in with the water. Pretty cool.
  • I recommend a soap tank for cars and windows.
Soap canisters.
