Let's talk about Knock Out roses

And how to prune them...the RIGHT way

Best time of year to prune roses

Late Winter and early Spring are great - but also in the Fall. These bloom often so you get several opportunities.

Step 1: Gather the right tools

You'll need a waste container, pruning shears, and gloves. You can disinfect the sheers with alcohol.

Step 2: Remove dead or diseased branches

These are the obviously dead ones.

Step 3: Identify the wilted roses

Should be easy to spot.

Step 4: Find the first set of five leaves from the flower

Moving down from the flower, look for five leaves in one bunch.

Step 5: Cut about an inch above the first set of five leaves

At a 45 degree angle.

Step 6: Repeat the process to each wilted rose.

Ensure proper aeration throughout the bush.
